“It’s the seat of the Elémentaire collection, curated by Ligne Roset. For me, elementarity has always been an anti-design position. I designed this chair in the early 1990s for the Tours conference centre. It was to say: now I want THIS chair, because in ’90s architecture, chairs from the ’30s to the ’70s resembled quotations; they were out of place. I tried to design something without its own stylistic effect, just with a little ergonomics and comfort. This chair has to be able to adapt to any situation”. Jean Nouvel
